Description
Tharpanam Procedures:
- Begin by ensuring the house or ritual space is clean and purified.
- Set up an altar or Puja Mandap where the ritual will be performed.
- Water is taken in the right hand, and black sesame seeds are added to it. This water is offered in remembrance of each ancestor.
- The rice balls are formed and offered to the ancestors. This symbolizes nourishing the souls and is believed to help them attain peace in the afterlife.
- After the rice ball (Pinda) offerings, water with flowers is poured into the plate or vessel.
- A final prayer of gratitude and peace is recited.
